Meet Dr. Elizabeth Spiers, Dermatologist

Born in Philadelphia, PA, at the Naval Hospital, Elizabeth Spiers grew up in San Antonio, TX, before attending medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She graduated in 1986, receiving the Edward Randall Medal for Academic Excellence and the Thomas Freese Award for Excellence in Dermatology. She was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Elizabeth Spiers completed her dermatology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in 1990, the same year she was made chief resident in dermatology and was board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology.

She completed her dermatopathology fellowship, also at the University of Alabama, in 1991, the same year she was board certified in dermatopathology.

After her training, Dr. Spiers joined the faculty at the Department of Dermatology, University of Pennsylvania, where she was in charge of the residents' clinic. She still has a voluntary faculty position at the university, serving as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology, and maintains an active role in teaching.

Dr. Spiers worked for other physicians in the Philadelphia area before opening her practice in Doylestown in 2002, where she's been ever since.

As for her personal life, Dr. Spiers is married and has two adult children. She is a distance runner who has completed Marathons in all 50 states. She also enjoys sewing, quilting as well as studying and practicing Spanish. She has been named a Philadelphia Magazine Top Doctor Winner from 2018 to 2022 and has been recognized in Best of Bucks.
