Office Policies

Appointments

Our office is dedicated to providing each of our patients with quality dermatologic care. We do our best to follow our schedule and run on time. Due to occasional emergencies and the variety of conditions we treat, it's difficult to predict the severity and amount of time required for each individual patient. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience when your wait runs longer than expected. For your convenience, we offer evening hours as well as same day appointments.

We see patients by appointment Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please call us at (215) 230-4592 to schedule an appointment. As a courtesy, we have an automated telephone confirmation system that will contact you three days prior to your appointment. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please follow the prompts to cancel. A fee will be assessed for any appointments missed or cancelled without 24 hours notice.

Emergency Care

Dr. Spiers is available to her patients 24 hours a day. "After hours" calls should be for "urgent care only." All other calls will be returned the following business day. For urgent matters only, call the office at (215) 230-4592 and follow the prompts to reach Dr. Spiers. If you have "call blocking," it must be deactivated by dialing *87 for the doctor to return your call successfully.

Telephone Calls

Please do not hesitate to contact the office with questions about your condition, medication, or treatment. Your calls will be forwarded to our clinical staff, who will call you back to discuss your questions or concerns.

Prescription Refills

We ask our patients to give us two to three days' notice prior to your prescription expiring or needing a refill. Oral medications require an appointment every three to four months for refills. Please leave your pharmacy name and phone number in addition to the name of the medication you are requesting. In the event you have not been evaluated by Dr. Spiers in more than one year, you will be asked to schedule an appointment prior to having your prescription refilled.

Referrals

It is the responsibility of the patient to request any required insurance referrals from their primary care physician prior to a scheduled appointment. Any patient arriving to the office without a referral will be asked to reschedule. Please feel free to contact our office two to three days prior to your appointment to verify the receipt of a referral.

Financial Policy

Payment of co-pays, balances due, and any non-covered services are required at the time of your visit. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. If any personal checks are returned from the bank, your account will be charged a fee of $15. Late co-pays will be assessed a $15 fee.

Please bring your insurance card(s) to each appointment. Be sure to inform our staff of any changes to your insurance coverage, address, or telephone numbers at the time of your appointment. You are responsible for knowing your insurance coverage.

If we are non-participating with your insurance carrier, payment for services is due at the time services are rendered. We will provide you with a copy of your invoice to allow you to submit your claim to your insurance carrier.

Any appointments missed without 24 hours' notice will assess a fee. Our charge for regular appointments is $25, and $50 for surgeries or cosmetic appointments.

All patient statements are due on receipt. Failure to pay your invoice promptly may subject you to discharge from our practice and your account being turned over to an outside agency for collection.

If you have any question about our policies, please do not hesitate to contact the office at (215) 230-4592.
